If a job offer is rescinded after you negotiated salary and benefits, what should you do?

Absolutely, stay professional until you receive a contract you should not make any moves such as conversations with current managers or send resignation letters or emails. Let them know that should they be able to resolve the issue that necessitated the rescinding then you would remain open.

No job is yours until you have your offer letter or employment contract inked by both parties. Is it right to be led to believe a job is yours then find out it’s not? I think most times when this happens it’s really an organizational issue. Did the needs of the job change as interviewees were evaluated? Did the job advertised not accurately represent what candidates had to offer? Sadly, we rarely find out exactly why these things happen but learn what you can and use it as needed for other opportunities.
