How are you using emerging UX trends and technologies?

In a smart city automation project, we are incorporating voice commands in the car accident evaluation user journey. Accident reporting on a roadside after an accident is a stressful process. We integrated a voice-to-text feature to improve visibility in data collection. It was a collaborative effort and I learned about diverse users and demographics.

Not everyone needs to learn this. Tbh if you are in a relative industry as a designer, You can put effort to learn non conventional design patterns other wise its waste of time and not worth the fomo. It will hardly take you just a month to learn any new design pattern.

I have worked on a data visualization immersive experience project for an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset. Multiple data dimensions are cold be showcased for users in an immersive and interactable way.

It enhances the shopping experience by providing convenience and access to valuable information. We have conducted accessibility UX Benchmarking for the world's largest public investment fund website. We made sure that the website can be user-friendly for users with specific needs or challenges such as color blinds and low vision users.

In Norway accessibility is baked into law. The guidelines leans on the same principles that WCAG do. This combined with the understanding that accessibility is not just good for a few, but for all - is crucial. Accessibility and inclusion need to be viewed as profitable investments in order to succeed. In my experience, that tends to be true.

While making an AI Resume builder we designed a recommendation engine for users which helps them write customized resume summaries and job descriptions. Additionally, I helped a team of data scientists to help job seekers to identify their strengths and weaknesses through AI modelling. This AI app was designed to predict carrier paths for job seekers who wanted to improve their employability.

Design systems offer consistent guidelines for integrating UX trends and technologies, while UX tools provide practical means to design, prototype, and collaborate effectively within these trends.

As a UX designer, you'll find design systems and tools valuable when they fit your team's or project's needs. Design systems should offer guidelines for a consistent look and feel, and speed to the dev-process. Many design tools are oriented towards design systems. But don't make a design system if you don't need it. It should fill a purpose, and not all projects needs one.

I advocate for the use of comprehensive design systems. This ensures consistency across different products and platforms, reduces design and development time, and maintains brand identity.

With so many emerging technologies and trends that are coming out for UX, I think it’s more important than ever to be critical thinkers. Ask and analysis what value would they serve in your day to day design process, before trying to incorporate those trends. Grow solid with your knowledge with UX fundamentals first, then practices those trends on top to see where these make sense in your existing practice.

Knowing the tools is important, but treating every UX problem differently, based on the needs, information you already have, and information you're lacking, is even more important.

In the world of emerging ideas and 30 seconds Figma tutorials, it has become increasingly important for designers to stay grounded in the fundamentals. Learn the principles of design and apply them, be inquisitive (always ask questions) and be humble enough to accept that your way may be one of the many ways to solve a problem. And finally seek feedback from subject matter experts. Great products are built when great minds work together.

Trends are needed. Emerging tech are exciting. However, there's usually too much emphasis put on the shiny new object. Stick to the fundamentals while opening yourself up to trying and experimenting.

Emerging trends and innovations might be interesting, but always check with your tech development team if features are possible, and communicate with stakeholders first before designing.
