This data is crucial in identifying whether the failure was due to an inherent material flaw, a design oversight, or an external factor.

Determine operating conditions prior to failure. Compare to operating limitations. Review inspection history and findings. Locate repair documentation to verify code compliance. Perform visual and other applicable NDE to determine materials condition. Compare to the original construction code requirements. Advise owner of repair or replacement recommendations.

Uniaxial Stress test measurement is one of the most crucial analyses a material engineer can do. But never understimate the derivatives from vickers hardness. If you're a material engineer with enough energy and knowledge there are all mechanical properties included in hardness and you should only sense the correct pragmatism
