?? An important milestone for our San Carlos Downtown Specific Plan and Streetscape Master Plan! ?? Part of making a successful, pedestrian-friendly downtown is developing strategies to re-balance all modes of mobility – amplifying pedestrian and bicycle use – and re-thinking the use and management of the street ROW and overall parking resources. Thanks to our great transportation planning partner W-Trans – we’re able to do that in an integrated way in collaboration with the community and City staff (City of San Carlos). Engaging with the community is essential for shaping the future of public spaces, as evidenced by two recent engagement events held simultaneously in Foster City and Santa Clara, California. Both in part of broader outreach efforts, underscored the importance of involving residents in the planning process to ensure that the outcomes reflect the community's needs and aspirations. In Foster City, WRT is leading the development of a Parks Master Plan with PROS Consulting, Inc., ETC Institute, BKF Engineers, mack5, and RMA Irrigation that seeks to revitalize aging parks, enhance connectivity to the city's unique system of lagoons and pathways, and identify new opportunities for land acquisition and collaboration. The ongoing outreach efforts, including pop-up events and community surveys, are essential for gathering input from residents, which will inform a sustainable strategy for the future of Foster City’s parks and recreational facilities. Similarly, in Santa Clara, WRT – in collaboration with PROS, Group 4 Architecture Research + Planning, Inc., and ETC Institute – is working on the city's first-ever Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The engagement event in Santa Clara was part of a comprehensive outreach initiative designed to gather community feedback that will shape the city's parks, facilities, and recreational programs for the next 15-20 years. Through activities such as workshops, surveys, and on-site park assessments, the project team aims to set priorities for new and improved amenities, including community centers, playgrounds, and athletic fields. #CommunityEngagement #UrbanPlanning #ParksMasterPlan #PublicSpaces #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityOutreach #CityPlanning #ParksAndRecreation #CivicEngagement #UrbanRevitalization #LandscapeArchitecture #PublicParticipation
