VR/XR training is especially helpful in industries dealing with hazardous materials and dangerous equipment. Much better to experience failure in VR, learn from the mistake, and reinforce the correct action, than to risk the same lesson being learned in actuality.

Training is the best use case for VR. Automotive manufacturers, engineering companies, medical schools, retail workers. Heavy equipment (cranes, tractors, excavators etc.) users where there is a risk of personal injury or material damage can safely train using VR. Armed forces of many countries are using VR based simulators to train soldiers with technical & critical decisions making skills needed in a combat situation.Budding engineers & designers can use VR based traing modules to experience & solve real world problems. Sports like baseball , tennis or cricket where repetition is needed to excel can benefit with VR based training sessions.

This can also reduce day-to-day risks with individuals seeking thrills and entertainment that could be considered dangerous. Things off the top of my head are sky diving, car simulation, and cooking even. I can see VR reducing the need for training exposure as well as general entertainment.

Otra ventaja de la realidad virtual es la de poder practicar escenarios de riesgo en entornos totalmente seguros y en los cuales el usuario no va correr ningún accidente. From my experience as a developer, cost efficiency is a significant consideration in professional training. VR can be a cost-effective solution by reducing the need for physical resources, travel, and instructor-led sessions. Once developed, VR programs can be scaled and distributed across multiple locations, allowing for consistent training experiences without additional costs. This scalability also means that as you progress in your career, VR can adapt to provide advanced training modules tailored to your growing expertise, ensuring continuous, efficient, and effective professional development.

In our work we do many projects for factories. We are talking about training for staff. A simple calculation shows the effectiveness. VR development costs 1000 “conditional bananas”, for example, let’s take a company with 10 factories, where each visit of an instructor for training costs the company 100 bananas (not counting the additional costs that the company will incur, namely, to gather everyone in a group that will not be available at that time work, travel allowances for the instructor, etc). It turns out that 1 training for all 10 objects equivalent to the cost of development. In a year, the company usually has about 30 trainings, in 10 years - 300. It turns out that one VR application saves the company at least 29,000 bananas

Training in VR is cost effective on the long term ! The initial investment may sometimes seem high and can scare companies into not integrating VR in their training process. However, a well thought VR training application can easily help saves lots of money. Two key examples : => in the industry for example you don’t have to interrupt production lines anymore to put trainees “in situation” => you don’t need to use real material to train people anymore (in a industrial painting training scenario for example no reel paint or surface is needed anymore)

I can give you a perfect example that this is true: Walmart. They have effectively used VR to train their employees for scenarios such as Black Friday. Walmart claimed to have saved via VR up to 80% in training time compared to traditional methods. The company rolled out VR education across 200 training centres across multiple locations. Great example!

So true. I remember JetBlue. They used VR training to reduce the costs of traditional training methods. It helped them avoid the high expense of taking real planes out of service. This approach also saved them money and allowed pilots to train in realistic scenarios obviously without the need for physical aircraft. It's truly an example of how VR can be both cost-effective and scalable!!

It should be incorporated as part of a blended training approach, where reliance on a single tool is avoided. If vr proves effective for an individual, it should be embraced. However, if traditional methods such as books are more suitable, they should be prioritized. Alternatively, a combination of both approaches, with books or tablets used for theoretical learning and practical aspects covered through pc or vr It is important to remember that vr should not be the primary objective, but rather a means to achieve specific learning goals.

Yesterday I came across a case of an entrepreneur from Japan who launched a restaurant run by robots. It would be a completely ordinary (in our time) case, if not for one thing. Robots controlled remotely by paralyzed people. Thus, VR can provide a tremendous opportunity for the labor market, providing jobs for people with disabilities, people from regions with low salaries or high unemployment. These are already very strong opportunities that can change the global economy!
