Accuracy and precision are important to consider with LiDAR and should not be conflated. LiDAR can produce a very precise model of a surface or object but the accuracy - are you actually measuring what you intend to measure - of the work done with the model is still dependent on the user. LiDAR can produce a very precise model of an entire surface very quickly but that precision does not automatically equate to accurate location of important features like boundary lines, monuments, etc. Those types of interpretation are what generate an accurate map, survey, drawing, etc.

The extent and magnitude of landscape and human features can be mapped and visualized much more quickly and in ways that would be impractical with traditional survey techniques.
