How do you visualize your sprint backlog and product increment using a scrum board?

A sprint backlog is a list of work items in a meaningful order that are required to complete a product feature or sometimes enable the product to function better.

I'd like to add that the items in this backlog are not necessarily in prioritized order and that the Team itself decides what is to be worked on during the sprint and in what order. There should be a few, say 3, stories at the top of the Product Backlog that can be worked on if a Team member runs out of stories for the current sprint. It is better to have an underloaded Sprint that can be completed rather than an overloaded Sprint that isn't completed

Loading the Sprint with a good understanding of the Sprint goals helps the team in smoother execution without taking a hit on their velocity and throughput.

Actually I disagree, a Product Increment is the exact amount of work completed in a Sprint which might be more, or less than planned in Sprint Planning. The result of that Product Increment must be a demonstrable iteration of value to the Stakeholders and might be able to be shown in conjunction with the results of previous Product Increments.

In my experience team members update the board as soon as work is completed. The daily stand is a time where the team is able to collaborate and grow based on the work being done and items moving or being updated within the sprint backlog. Impediments are a focal point in the daily standup meetings and emphasize the necessity of transparency within the team.

Rather than start ALL the work on your backlog at once, start a few, focus on them, FINISH them, and then start the next few. WIP limits help you focus and accelerate. - Policy for each stage, in terms of Definition of Ready and Def'n of Done. What criteria must be met before you start a piece of work in a given stage? What criteria must be satisfied before the work is ready to move to the next one? This is especially important when you have a complex board with multiple columns. - Swim lanes, for critical, time dependent, and regular work. Swarm on the critical, focus on the time-dependent, and the rest will come as it can.

I compare such figures with a Monte Carlo simulation measuring the velocity of the Sprints Team composition over the last (say) 4 Sprints (2 months) which will reveal and include historical variations in the predicted velocity

In addition to taking the process of stories and track, scrum board can also be customized to track risks and dependencies. If you have a due date assigned to each risk or dependencies, the Scrum board helps in identifying the upcoming due items or over due items. This gives a good view of risks and dependency and helps in proactively planning risks/dependency.
