1 What is value stream mapping?

Value stream mapping is a diagram that shows the steps, inputs, outputs, and resources involved in delivering a product or service to a customer. It also shows the time, cost, and quality metrics for each step, as well as the communication and information flows between them. Value stream mapping helps you see the current state of your process and identify the sources of waste, such as overproduction, waiting, defects, inventory, motion, transportation, and overprocessing.

2 How to create a value stream map?

Creating a value stream map requires you to define the scope and purpose of your map, collect data on your process, draw the current state map, analyze the current state map, draw the future state map, and implement and monitor the future state map.
