I always set a border space I cannot break to keep everything nice and tidy. Then there are guides for the header, for image sizes (all 4 sides!), for footer etc. Proper aligned elements make your presentation easier to follow and pleasing for the eye.

Those you add on the Slide Master under the Master View: red ones, they are applied to all the slides of the same Slide Master, even in different layouts; they can’t be altered in th Normal View; 2. Those you add on individual layout slides under the Master View: specifically applied to the slides of the very same layout; they can’t be altered in the Normal View as well; 3. And finally those you manually add and alter in the Normal View; they cover the whole presentation Don’t forget that you could also use hotkeys like Ctrl and Alt for duplicating and finetuning guides.
