Always remember IT fundamentals; "it's always DNS". Even if it's not, it's always DNS. Start there and work your way up, checking firewall rules and services for SIP services, traffic shaping etc

Wire shark is your friend and I cannot emphasize it enough. Capture the network traffic and analyze. Pay special attention to RTP packets and how they traverse the network .

When troubleshooting VoIP or communication issues: 1. Identify affected users, networks, and regions. 2. Determine issue duration and specifics with users. 3. Check baseline network for smooth connections. 4. Assess recent network changes and concurrent applications. 5. Monitor bandwidth, conduct pings during reported issues. 6. Configure dedicated bandwidth via COS. 7. If bandwidth remains an issue, adjust audio codecs. 8. For MPLS links, coordinate COS with providers. Actual steps depend on specifics. In order of appearance - Route - DNS - QoS Pings , telnets and trace routes are the tools to use Then dig into the logs of the culprit if necessary.

Keep a watchful eye on network traffic to identify potential bottlenecks or congestion points. Utilize network monitoring tools to analyze packet loss, jitter, and latency. A steady and reliable flow of data is essential for VoIP quality, and monitoring provides insights into optimizing the network's rhythm for clear communication.

ONE-WAY-AUDIO. When this problem occurs, the first thing to check is the routing of the devices or equipments involved on the communication. If both devices/equipments can reach the other end, the next thing to check are the firewalls and access-lists that could be cutting UDP traffic. Keep in mind that testing routing with ICMP could hide a problem with the UDP protocol. If a SBC equipment splits the networks, the problem could be a bit more complex as SBC replaces and modifies the packages on each side. If this is the case the problematic have to be check from the SBC taking captures for analisys.

One thing I've found helpful is to use the paren't branch's data logs to see if the packets were successful in distributing the message.

According to me, for any connection issue, first we have to do basic test "ping" to verify the latency and then find the hop which is delaying the communication. Get a packet captured at the hop and to analysis the cause to fix it.

No hay que olvidar que, al realizar actualizaciones o efectuar parches en los equipos de comunicaciones, como routers, switches y similares, podemos afectar la calidad del servicio de VoIP o hasta hacer que el servicio se interrumpa. Cambia la posición del router: La ubicación del router puede tener un impacto considerable en la calidad de las llamadas VoIP. Sitúa el router en un lugar céntrico de tu casa u oficina para obtener una mejor cobertura y reducir las interferencias.
