1 Assess user needs and skills

1.- Identifying the need versus the required modules is the first step. Concurrently the development of a process map of the current process with the help of the site’s key users is a great tool. 2.- The required reports : Identifying the report required to evaluate the output is another requirement , that way an evaluation of the data capturing vs the reports will help to reduce the gap and reinforce the discipline of data capturing , report cleaning in a regular basis : I.E Backlog of Sales orders by date, Scheduled orders & production orders vs closed orders , Negatives at inventory, etc…

I agree and believe it is vital to go beyond the sunny-day approach to training. Once users receive training on baseline processes. Move beyond focusing on linear processes (i.e. sunny-day scenarios). It is important to train users to be problem-solvers who can pivot to address scenarios that are likely to occur, but not necessarily daily occurrences. For example customer returns, transaction reversals, address changes, etc. Once they understand how to solve certain problems, this fosters a greater understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the software.

perform role based training, where a day in the live of the end user the foundation is for the training and not the possibilities of the system. perform test at the end of the training to see if users are capable to do the new tasks

Better to use user data to enter on the training environment and show the outcome of the training which is very near to the user's understanding with their own data. Extensive training users on 80% of the daily transaction is much better than overview training of 100% of the system capabilities.

One thing I've found extremely helpful in the multiple ERP implementations I have participated in is to ensure that the Enterprise Processes are visible in the intended ERP flow. If the existing business best practices are mapped into the ERP, the training to the end users becomes seamless.
