How do you stay motivated and positive in a challenging and competitive environment?

I wanted to take a moment to discuss strategies that may help stay motivated and positive. First and foremost, setting realistic goals is crucial. By breaking down these goals into smaller, achievable tasks, you are able to track your progress and celebrate the small victories along the way. This approach allows you to maintain focus and stay motivated as you witness your progress firsthand. Another valuable strategy is to surround yourself with a supportive network. Whether it be friends, family, or colleagues, having individuals who can provide encouragement and motivation can make a significant difference. Their support can serve as a constant reminder that you are not alone in facing the challenges at hand.

According to me, Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on your own progress and growth. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

Having a combination of a target that spans the entire campaign for end results, as well as smaller goals (call numbers, contact rate, pipeline building and objection handling) that add up to achieving the end goal help with motivation and reveal the additional value brought to the campaign through pipeline building. Because it’s not always about the immediate wins. We have conversations that start months or years prior, with prospects that we’ve kept in regular and timely contact with, turn into big opportunities for our clients. One of my favourite bits of advice I’ve heard from our team has been ‘Set yourself the goal of asking for the appointment on every call with a decision maker- give yourself every chance to score’.

I work night shifts and I work remotely, what I do is I take advantage of my short breaks. I use it in writing my frustrations, my challenges and my goals. I always put dates on each notes that I create. So I can always look back on those difficult times but I was able to get through. God is good that I was able to pull it off so it's not impossible for me to get through this again. Sometimes, we just have to be reminded that "Some will, some won't, so what? Move on to the next!" I agree with this to an extent, however Feedback needs to come from an objective point of view, and from someone experienced and successful in that role, otherwise it can be counter productive, everyone can give you feedback and it’ll end up contradicting and confusing, everyone learns their own way, and sells in their own way too, you need to be able to filter and take on board what will help you personally to progress, not just blindly apply all into your role. Positive Encouragement is always better than criticism though I believe.

A good telemarketing campaign should always be about qualifying, so it's likely a high rate of contact is 'not ready'. Timing is key when starting a conversation with a new customer. Tele-marketing is qualifying by phone. The marketing clearly defines 'who' they wish to call. Rejection is often because the recipient is not aligned with the offer. In other words, the wrong person for the wrong reasons. Get this right and you'll find telemarketing improves. Add 99% improbability that anyone will ever close a sale on that first call and the anxiety is removed. You have a caller being helpful and a listener interested when the times ready. I wonder, on the feedback...how many listen back to themselves?

Rejection and even feedback are amazing opportunities for growth. The key is to take the emotion out of it and look at it as a chance to evolve your skillset.

A supportive team and a manager or coach can make all the difference. Break your day into small, manageable tasks like Power Hours to maintain focus and keep momentum. Reward yourself for hitting these milestones. Implement team incentives that recognise effort as well as results - for example, everyone who makes a certain number of calls today gets to spin the wheel of fortune for a chance to win a great prize. This approach not only keeps motivation high but also fosters a positive, encouraging atmosphere.

One thing I have found helpful is to stay focus on the present. Try to stay present and avoid dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. This can help you stay grounded and focused on what you can control.

Having your own time and space to separate yourself completely from work each day is vital. Take yourself for a walk on a break, read, listen to a podcast - whatever it may be, switching off from work each day I have found to have a huge impact on my professional and personal life. For me, the gym is that exact space. On bad days, it's where I can take my frustration out on weights instead of colleagues, customers or loved ones. On good days, it allows me to plan, focus and ground myself, ready for what's to come. It comes with the additional benefit of keeping me in good shape and improving my strength.

Focusing on the positives daily. Being able to maintain a positive mindset is imperative to high performance. Focus on the benefits of your work, who you are helping with your work, creating daily mini goals to accomplish to reach your large goals, ect. Trying to always maintain a positive mindset is key to continually performing at a high level!

You have to take control immediately stating you are following up an email sent [name day] & then stating your USP's before the contact can stop you/reject you. Once that's achieved then pause & wait for the response...say nought...then react to their objection[s] ..any interest close for a short 15/20 mins online meeting & confirm with an email immediately giving them an option to re-schedule in follow up email the day before. I agree in part with @nigel morgan's comment around pausing after delivery. However, I always call first. If you get a voicemail state your intentions. Allow them to expect your email and follow up call. Silence can play a huge part of a conversation and it's knowing when to remain quiet that's key.
