Equipment training sessions should be an opportunity to connect the customer’s intended use case to the capability of the equipment. There are so many end-users in the biotechnology industry that are intensely curious; be prepared to discuss not just how to use the equipment, but how it works, it’s major operating principles, and full range of capabilities. Lastly, be prepared with contacts in your organization to follow up with in case you don’t have the resources on hand to answer technical questions.

When it comes to training it is necessary to ensure that employees get the skills and knowledge they need with certainty. A great way to do that is through Microlearning Training Videos. MTV's combine standardized training with multimedia. When a standardized process is created for the training, you are able to teach the employee the "one best way" and create consistency and repetition during the training and afterwards. MTV's need to be concise and short. Videos capture the necessary steps and nothing more. The videos can supplement the training given by a Subject Matter Expert by being accessible on a video library to be referenced anytime. The key is capturing the knowledge and making sure it is available when they need it.

A comment on the importance of End-User training. I have seen multiple companies believe that purchasing an appliance or a tool will magically work. They take the 2 day install instead of the 2 week. The device is never integrated into their environment, a resource is assigned but they have no bandwidth to learn about it, and the device does things that other tools would do if they are properly configured, they are redundant. One of the targets in training should be 'How do we integrate this tool into our environment for maximum value'
