How do you select the best problem-solving framework for your BA project?

You can't solve problems without knowledge of the business process and or system. Often non experts come along and pretend to be experts. So before getting into any frameworks the most important thing is to put together the right people. I've seen crazy problems that people have spent weeks on and then the right person comes along and does one thing in a system or updates one tiny bit of code and fixes it. Same with business processes. Someone who understands the wider picture comes along and is able to rise above the problem to solve it. No specific comments on frameworks. Any framework is better than no framework. When it comes to system issues I always split the problem in two. Then test which side of the issue is on and then repeat

Probability assessment is a critical skill in intimating where one’s resources should be directed. By analyzing available likelihood of success not only with a matrix but also with an objective observation can better manage resources especially time.

Visual is the new usual. I believe that when you represent a challenge / problem as a visual entity, you see more than what you see. Kanban boards are visual tools used in project management as problem-solving frameworks. They allow teams to visualize their workflow and identify bottlenecks or issues that need resolution. Ishikawa drawings for defining the flow of solutions and the priority in which it needs to be solved.

My tool-box consists of SWOT, RCA, FISHBONE, The Five WHYs, Gap Analysis, and PDCA. If I need to say what's the #1 tool that I use, I would say RCA and Five WHYs.
