How do you restore a computer's ability to recognize a previously working USB?

Clean your ports with a dusterm tey a diffiernt device. use a third party software to see if it picks up the drive in question. make sure your drive is fuily seated into the slot. check the pins on the port and drive.

I would recommend using multiple usb devices and check the ports on the device for a build up of dirt or dust or debris. I would recommend trying other ports in the device and see if the same devices work on other ports

I always try the simplest thing first which is restart the computer. You wouldn't believe the number of issues actually caused by it not having been restarted in a while. Honestly fixes 50% of issues.

I do agree to try to restart the in question computer. This fixes so many typically strange quirks that may be happening and solves an easy 60% of issues.

I do agree Restarting PC can resolved unwanted process and refresh other components that cause unresponsive USB device.......

Es recomendable, más que actualizar los controladores, desinstalarlos y volverlos a instalar. Podemos utilizar la detección automática en Windows o bien optar por un software especifico. Personalmente, utilizo Driver Booster, que funciona muy bien y es gratuito.

Actualizar controladores es un método acertado cuando ya se ha verificado como primera instancia que el dispositivo USB se encuentra operativo. Al estar seguro que la anomalía proviene de los puertos USB se procede a una actualización o reinstalación de controladores, es recomendable descargar los drivers originales desde la pagina oficial del fabricante del motherboard, también es valido usar herramientas de instalación de driver que tengan buena reputación.

I would first open up Device Manager and see under Disk Drives if it is popping up, normally if the Drive is the defective it will pop up as an Unknown Device typically under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

As i’ve mentioned in the second column the PC need to restart to check and solved the issue, However if the problem still persist go to “device manager” uninstall the designated usb driver then refresh and reinstall the driver. If you are having issue when installing the driver then go back to the second column Restart the PC for this it will force to install the driver smoothly.
