Rather than mentioning the impact on First Time Through or Scrap Rate or on Customer Complaints, bring " Cost of Poor Quality" in the discussion. By showcasing the reduction in the COPQ at suppliers plus the Customer Satisfaction, this will become easier. This is from my own experience.

E child part till final warranty complaints received from field. if overall COPQ is calculated negotiations become easy. Also supplier should be treated as a partner and should be assured as long time partner.
