Waveform sync is a nice fallback if something didn't go quite right with the clapboard or sync device. Often we have a B camera running in an interview setting -- in our case a Sony A7IV. What's great is to go ahead and let the on-board microphone record on that camera. Our A camera has XLR in via a lav mic. You can sync both of those waveforms up in Premiere Pro quickly and use the A camera's superior audio.

I had a different perspective on the meaning of "matching audio and video between camera angles". Often times when cutting between different cameras, you are also cutting between different microphones. That can cause a difference in the sound quality between the people speaking as well as the overall ambience. For that reason it is important to pay attention to the audio quality and use levels and equalization to match the sources. It is also very helpful to have room tone recorded from the scene - that way it can be edited and mixed in under the main audio to help make any mis-matched audio seamless.

This is where youre going to be kicking yourself if you didnt hire a sound mixer and mic your actors individually. Oftentimes all actors with dialogue need microphones to pic up speech clearly. This way cutting between shots will have consistent audio, and it will all have a baseline soundscape so it doesnt sound really weird using one shot's audio and another's video. Best of luck if you are finding out all of this and you're already in your post process. Prepare to pay some VA's for dubbing
