This seems very straight forward and simple, but choosing a company wide (or project wide) naming convention and then STICKING TO IT, can be a huge help in figuring out exactly what a file contains. This is particularly important with a CAD file, which can be very large and take some time to open on computers with limited memory. A naming convention that tells you exactly wha the file contains can be a big time saver when going back through a large project and trying to find what you need.

As an added benefit, Dropbox can even convert CAD files into PDF files which may be able to be viewed by more project team members.
