This is crucial: ideal stakeholders will see the project through to the conclusion, and will champion the project if others undermine it part way through. If your stakeholder steps away, it can become a challenge to complete the project so a committed stakeholder with fiscal authority and a willingness to listen to their experts is ideal.

In my experience evaluation is key to the success of a project and informs successful future projects, yet in education this step is often overlooked outside the classroom. It is crucial to foster an environment where evaluation is done frequently and in a supportive way to encourage growth and improvement.

It is important to identify and agree boundaries and budget amongst stakeholders and project participants before signing off on the project. Once clear boundaries are framed and a budget identified and agreed it is easier to stay focussed, avoid mission creep, and deliver the core project to time.
