For example, as a recruiting manager, I inherited an organization with a 60% success rate. My goal was to improve to 100% over time. However, the method I employed was to first achieve a 75% rate in one Quarter, then increase success by 10-15% over the next 2 Quarters, until my organization achieved 100% success. In fact, we actually overachieved our 100% goal. This method of incremental success, allows for sustained improvement for the organization.

In my experience, you measure specific goals and success in terms of sustained achievement. You communicate your vision to your stakeholders in terms of measured success over time. A SMART goal, one that is specific and measurable, will encourage your stakeholders to value their achievements, and allow them to "buy in" to the organization's goals, values and results! For example, I established a goal of 110% success for my recruiting company, over 2 consecutive years. We achieved the specific goal, but more importantly, we maintained the achieved goals past the 2 year mark, because our stakeholders had ownership of the process.

La acción sin visión es pasar el tiempo y la visión sin acción es un sue?o.

For example, as a recruiting manager, I allowed my subordinate recruiters to set their quarterly target. Instead of setting a low bar, my subordinate recruiters always set a challenging goal for themselves, and their team. By empowering individuals to set high standards, you appeal to their core values, their sense of worth, and their competitive nature. In return, the success my organization achieved was sustained over a longer period of assessment. In most cases, we overachieved on our goals!
