Additionally it’s important to note that receiving impactful feedback is one of the best gifts you can receive in your professional development. If someone is giving you feedback, you should always thank them because that individual wants to see you succeed. Lastly remember not to take feedback to heart. Ask for specific examples to ensure connectivity back to you and document your feedback to track your progress.

Building relationships is not just about knowing the right people or getting some sort of advantage over others because of who may be able to pull strings or get you some kind of valuable information. It's really about building your own personal brand and broadcasting that to the workplace. You can start to build relationships with people you haven't even met yet, just by working well with others and being your genuine self. If people think there's an ulterior motive then...they're probably right.
