How do you know if you're ready for a change management leadership role?

For myself if I felt that I had accomplished all I could in an organization, I moved on and looked for new opportunities. Not really emotional but more about self improvement.

I’m not sure I agree with all of the above. I think it can be more of an emotional response, when the conscious and unconscious evidence has accumulated to the point where you say to yourself and others: ??I’ve had it and I’m not going to live like this anymore. I know there are better ways to get things done, I know we are wasting time and money and I’m ready to take some responsibility for making the needed changes.??.

Be in a mindset where you can embrace and value every organizational experience you've had. Smooth execution isn't always been a sign of healthy adoption, and conflict and tension isn't always a sign of stagnancy and delay. Many factors contribute to the momentum and outcomes of change exercises and it's fascinating to understand where technical, relational, personal, or political factors have leveraged or letdown the movement. You can go back and replay the chess strategy of how you might have viewed and impacted situations and their solutions differently. No change is perfect, or absolute - it's about a shared commitment, discipline, and reward over time, that is constantly evolving.

I think that a person who wants to consider a change management leadership role needs to really care about people. People are at the center of any Change Management Position. You need to understand that in order to navigate change, you have to facilitate that for the organization and put yourself in the shoes of those who will have to deal with the change. It is also necessary to understand that Change Management is not a science, that it's often messy, and you need to go back to the drawing board over and over again. You need to listen to the organization and pivot when needed. A person suited for such a role needs to be flexible and very resilient. They should be able to think out of the box and care about people, as I mentioned before.
