Learning from the experts and practitioners of team building is easy and convenient through books and articles. Online platforms, libraries, bookstores, and journals are full of resources covering the fundamentals, best practices, case studies, and emerging insights on team building. For example, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle, Team of Teams by General Stanley McChrystal, Building the Future: Big Teaming for Audacious Innovation by Amy Edmondson and Susan Salter Reynolds, and The Science of Teamwork: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities by Eduardo Salas, Ramon Rico, and Jonathan Passmore all provide valuable information on the topic.

I’ve written 28 team building game and theory books, a couple apps, learning programming - and 100s of initiative learning tools and measures - in the past three decades. You can learn more at (beta site) www.teambuildingschool.com and www.TylerHayden.com/shop (I hesitate to post a “look at me/buy my stuff” - but if it can help please check it out - admin please delete if this post goes against any rules).

No time or resources to read? Get audiobooks from your local library, for free, and listen on your commute, on your walk or wherever is convenient. Most local libraries have an app, and you can get a library card online with your drivers license.
Staying up to date with the latest trends and research on team building can be done through podcasts and webinars. These are excellent sources of information and motivation that you can access whenever and wherever. For example, while commuting, exercising, or taking a break, you can listen to podcasts such as The Team Coaching Zone Podcast by Krister Lowe, The Team Building Podcast by James Bennett, The Team Success Podcast by Shannon Waller, How to Build a Team That Works by Google, and The Future of Teamwork by LinkedIn Learning.

I just discovered this pod cast “how to be awesome at your job”. Binged 4 episodes today on my drive home from a keynote. Highly recommend! https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/how-to-be-awesome-at-your-job/id1106548091

Another way that works for me is to talk to other team leaders. Talking to other team leaders can be a great way to learn about their experiences and challenges. They may also be able to share with you some of the latest trends and research in the field.
Staying up to date on the latest trends and research on team building can be done through attending workshops and events. These occasions are great for meeting other team builders, picking up new skills and techniques, and experiencing different team building activities. Examples of such workshops and events include Team Building Masterclass by Team Building Asia, Team Building Summit by Team Building Institute, Team Building Workshop by TeamworkIQ, Team Building Event by Catalyst Global, and Team Building Conference by ATD.

Two great locations for learning are: Games and simulations: https://www.nasaga.org & Experiential Learning: https://www.aee.org
A fifth way to keep up with the latest trends and research on team building is to experiment and reflect on your own team building practices. Experimenting and reflecting are essential for learning and improving your team building skills. You can experiment by trying new methods, tools, or activities that you have learned from the previous sources. You can reflect by collecting feedback, analyzing data, or reviewing outcomes of your team building interventions. Experimenting and reflecting will help you discover what works and what doesn't for your team, and how you can adapt and innovate your team building approach.

All these are great suggestions. There is always something more to learn. Have the mindset of lifelong learning, be humble and be curious!
