1 Multimeter Method

A multimeter is a device that can measure various electrical parameters, such as voltage, current, and resistance. You can use it to test a transistor by measuring its resistance between different terminals. A transistor has three terminals: the base (B), the collector (C), and the emitter (E). Depending on the type of transistor, either the base or the emitter will control the current flow between the collector and the emitter. To test a transistor with a multimeter, you must first set it to either diode or resistance mode. Then, identify the type and pinout of the transistor using a datasheet or reference chart. Testing transistors and MOSFETs with a multimeter is actually pretty straightforward. First, when checking a transistor, put your meter into diode test mode. Then measure the voltage drop between the emitter/source and base pins, and also between the collector/drain and base. You should see a low voltage drop in one direction and a higher voltage in the reverse direction on a good transistor. For a MOSFET, just switch your meter to resistance mode and measure between the drain and source pins. A properly working MOSFET will show a really high resistance when it's off and a very low resistance when it's turned on. So that's the basic idea - diode mode for transistors and resistance mode for MOSFETs.

2 Transistor Tester Method

A transistor tester is a device that can automatically identify and measure the parameters of a transistor, such as its type, pinout, gain, leakage, and threshold.
