I think this should be your first step. I used to be that guy. The thing is: I didn't realize I was doing it until someone (many years late into my career) pulled me aside and pointed it out. Remember: make no assumptions about the person's intent or thought process. Don't even assume they're aware of it no matter how obvious it may seem. With factors like: - cultural norms - neurodiversity - prior working environments/conditions it's hard to untangle why. Unless you're a therapist you're not qualified to unpack the root cause. Do listen but don't diagnose! Discuss your observations, set expectations, and ask how you can help. The only assumption you should be making is that this person wants to be a good teammate.
