Internally, take on new challenges, pursue leadership opportunities, and seek mentorship from senior colleagues. Actively participate in projects that expand your skills and visibility, and regularly seek feedback to refine your performance.

Growing your career inside and outside your organization involves setting clear goals, seeking feedback, and taking on new challenges. Internally, build relationships, pursue continuous learning, and demonstrate leadership to enhance your visibility and impact. Externally, expand your network by attending industry events and joining professional organizations. Develop a strong personal brand on platforms like LinkedIn, gain new skills through courses and certifications, and seek mentorship for diverse perspectives. Engaging in freelance or consulting work and staying informed about industry trends further broadens your experience and opportunities, ensuring continuous career growth.

In other words, before you start looking for opportunities to grow your career, you need to understand which direction you want your career to take. To do so, it's important that you reflect not only on the areas that you are good at but also on the areas you enjoy. You need to know what you truly desire, and what will make you happier when it comes to your career. For instance, when I was working at Santander, I was allowed to move to the compliance team, as I was very good at Governance, but... the reality was, that I hated Governance! So, instead, I further developed my career by moving to a risk team, working directly with the business, which is much more aligned with my interests. So, focus on answering: What do I WANT to do?

Inside your organization, seek out opportunities for advancement, such as taking on new projects or roles, and build strong relationships with colleagues and managers. Outside your organization, network with professionals in your field, attend industry events, and consider additional education or certifications. By being proactive, adaptable, and continually improving, you can grow your career both inside and outside your current workplace.

Set a good foundation by having a firm plan - What do you want to achieve in your career and how do you want to grow - Do you want to be a domain expert or you want to go after a management role. Once you have that in place, list out the skills required to achieve that goal. Then for each skill write a measurable step by step action plan.

One of the things that really helped me when setting my career pathway -was being very clear on what I really wanted ! I wanted space to think, to be creative, to be able to give my best to my patients but also develop, to be present with my children. It looked impossible but writing it down gave me the clarity. Next was to use one word to guide me through the process, it was easier to use this word to remind me of what I really wanted, at one point it was , work-life balance. I used this to set up my goals and adjust my objectives. Each phase through life will be different. Have your eyes set on the ultimate goal will help you create regular objectives that you work on!

Clearly, SMART goals derived from a SWOT analysis will help you pursue a more strategic, long-term approach that aligns with your capabilities. Not only is this an important first step, but establishing appropriate goals will also boost your confidence in pursuing your desires

Isso permite que seu cérebro consiga interpretar aquela meta de forma lógica e isso faz com que tenha mais resultados, e como você colocou essas informa??es e possível acompanhar como está o progresso e também fazer um planejamento especifico para chegar a sua conquista.

Mantenha-se responsável pelo seu progresso, registre cada vitória, ajuste quando necessário e celebre as pequenas conquistas. Uma carreira bem-sucedida é construída por inten??es claras e a??es consistentes.

Don't underestimate the power of shadowing. If you're able to, it can be really helpful to reach out to someone at your organization with your dream job and ask to shadow them for an hour. Use that as opportunity to ask all of the questions. -Ask how you can be a better partner to them. -Ask how your department can be a better partner to them. -Ask if there are any initiatives that could benefit from another team member. -Ask what key skills or competencies are necessary for them to succeed in their role. Overall, get involved! If nothing else, find ways for you to build and use the skillset needed for that role while still in your current role.

I've learned that knowledge is useless unless applied. Here are my suggestions. 1. Help a business or projects using your skills. You serve others and learn simultaneously (getting paid is the cream on top!). 2. Start a side passion project. I started career coaching while working as a full-time executive. I learned to coach, sell and market. This process created my new career. 3. Volunteer to sit on Boards for not-for-profit organisations. I acted as my childcare centre's Treasurer position for seven years. I learned about board directorship skills and contributed to my community. It added to my professional experience and CV. Find things that interest you, have learning opportunities, and have fun! 3 birds with one stone

In the last 7 years, I was able to complete more than 2000 certified learning and development hours by doing quarterly learning sprints. I am picking one topic, like Google Cloud Platform, and devoting a quarter to learning the terminology and high-level concepts and trying to get hands-on experience. The following quarter, I either chose to go deeper into the same topic (like cloud networking) or broader (like Microsoft Azure). Following this technique for a few quarters allows you to build a web of complementary information in an area of expertise. On top of that, I set myself milestones for how many hours I want to complete each quarter and year to keep myself accountable.

Do a yearly skills audit. What skills are becoming important? Make a learning plan for the year. I set up a Perpetual Learning Fund where I set aside money and time to learn. Do more than learn new skills; find ways to demonstrate them through projects, volunteering, special assignments at your job, mentoring/teaching and blogging. Then be ready to talk about how you've meshed your past experience with the new skills to create a competitive career advantage.

For me, this is an essential part that must always be done. In work relationships, you need to learn how to make work smoother, more efficient, and maintain communication channels that are on target. From the outside, you gain different perspectives and experiences that are full of potential to apply internally. These two factors cannot be separated but must be done in parallel.

People often grow their networks while unemployed and let them languish while working. Be intentional in maintaining networks (easier than rebuilding) by setting aside time each month to publish content/career updates and reach out to people in your network to catch up. Generously provide your assistance to others.

Networking is essential - internally and externally. LinkedIn is a great tool if you don't have time to attend events in person. Prioritize providing value and maintain a ratio of giving approximately three times more than you ask for. For example: - Introduce and connect people with mutual interest - Share valuable content with your network

Successfully making a connection does not mean that the connection is sustainable. Maintaining it requires much more effort than you might think, and you must truly invest in it if you want to have valuable relationships in various areas of life

Joining a professional organization related to your industry is an excellent way to expand and maintain your network. When you connect with people outside of your employment, you gain exposure to multiple perspectives and facets of your industry. Additionally, professional organizations provide access to learning, support, and leadership opportunities.

One way to make an impression when connecting both inside and outside the organization is to showcase your achievements. Numbers always have a quick and strong impact on the mind and stimulate immediate interaction. Note that you must be as honest as possible with your accomplishments.

This sometimes may be difficult if you have a strong teamwork culture. Attributing your hard work to the team effort is great but also sharing the role you played is important , The world we live in now is one where people want to see the value you bring. Keeping a log of this or sharing it on your social media pages gives you the opportunity to showcase your value , again giving you opportunity to attract the people that you really want as you create your career path.

Additionally, participating in industry events, attending professional development courses, and joining online communities, will open doors to new possibilities and keep you at the forefront of industry trends.

For me, this is an activity that I am passionate about and always invest a lot of energy and dedication into. I believe that when you join an organization, having a clear direction and personal vision is essential. Therefore, being proactive in building within the organization or taking initiative outside of it is something that should be done and requires immense perseverance. These efforts often take more time and effort than you might think

Instead of fighting against you, they will be interested in supporting you to achieve your goals, as this will make them look better as a great mentor and leader. Just shoot them a message asking them to be your mentor. Outline: >What you would like to learn from them and >What their time commitment would be. It can be as simple as meeting twice a month for 30 minutes.

Believe it or not, growing your career inside your organization is by default growing your career outside of your organization simultaneously. The more valuable you become to your peers and employers, the more sought after within your industry you naturally become. Flourish where you are planted first. To do this, make it your daily priority to solve professional problems strategically and creatively for those within your organization. Within a short period of time your reputation for being an elite level expert in your field will be fully established. Take this reputation that you have built into your next step.

I am in favour of one thing at a time. So select wisely as per the need. To grow your career inside your organization, set clear goals aligned with the company's mission, seek new opportunities, and build relationships with colleagues and leaders.
