Why do they function the way they function? Is there anything else you can do to solve their difficulties? How can you make it easy for them to operate? Learn how to craft better and easier solutions in a way that outperforms the existing conditions. Put yourself in your client's shoes and imagine their behavior and response towards challenges. If you're writing for others, it's not about your voice. It's about theirs. Let's start there! I had already edited two or three books by a Zen priest when he suggested that I might write a book for him. He had in mind a particular aspect of Zen, but he wanted the book to be consistent with his teachings. So, he asked a question: "How will you write a book for me?" I was ready with the logical answer. I said, "I will become you. I will reflect your character and be your voice."
