The fact that the casting call should be clear, concise, and appealing is correct but there is far more to a Casting call that would be required to make sure that the actors, the casting call is going out to are the correct set of actors and it is not sent out randomly to everyone in the hope that the correct people will apply for the roles.

Actually I may disagree with you on putting out the casting call on so many social media platforms. It will only attract a whole lot of people who may or may not be actors, I may not fit the roles that are being cast for that particular project. Casting is a very specialised job.

Any project in any medium, is as good as it’s casting is. Open casting calls without any thought and pre-work done, will only add to the time taken to do the first shortlist for auditions. It would always be better to go do some sifting through the database that is available and send out casting calls to those that look like they fit the characters being cast. This would save a lot of time and work and be more precise to words the casting of the characters.

I do not believe that online auditions are always the correct way to conduct any auditions. Digital formats are a directors medium unlike theatre which is an actors medium. Auditioning actors is a very important part of shortlisting for the role, and for that the actors need to be briefed on the plot and their specific roles, and then directed by a competent person to do the audition in a specific way. Sometimes it may be necessary to audition the person a couple of times to get the correct performance. During the pandemic online auditioning, what is the common and efficient way of doing it, but post that I think what is sitting in person is very important.

To start with Narrating the role in its entirety to see if everything is acceptable to the actor,Location of shoot, dates, availability, health conditions, remuneration, are few of the other things that could be important in the decision making process.
