Caching is a boon that should be leveraged for Infrastructure, Applications, Databases, Security, and networking. User level - use browser cache to load frequently used webpages. Database - used database cache to serve frequent request me from memory. Server level - leverage memory cache to serve user requests. Network level a use CDN to server videos and images closer to the user. DNS cache for quick website look ups. Redis and memcache - use these to serve up frequent queries from the caching engine. Establish pertinent cache invalidation strategies to ensure users get accurate and up to date content. Some of them are TTL, write-through, write-around, write-back, and lazy loading to ensure freshness of served content.

Caching is a two sided coin it can improve performance however can give false/out of date results when running in a real time environment. I had a situation where a partner was demoing a new report, made a change in the source system and ran the report that was using cache expecting to see the change and was embarrassed when the report showed no change, sometimes caching can be your foe as well as your saviour
