In my experience, it has been helpful to walk the talk with my team by setting work life balance as a priority on my work calendar. By blocking off time for family dinner, school events, bowling and vacations, my team can see that I’m making it a priority to make time for that while encouraging them to also do the same.

Starting out, I had bosses that would say that the company had a good work-life balance but then work 24/7, making the team feel that they had to do the same. Don't play the blame game Everybody makes mistakes. The leader is responsible for team failures (poor delegation, unclear expectations...) Ensure incidents don't recur by discussing them: - observations, not evaluation (data, not interpretation) - Identify why processes failed (no blame, just facts) - make clear demands ?? 5. Care personally / Challenge Directly Genuinely connect with people; small talk isn't enough. Don't avoid confrontation, but address issues while showing care. e.g. This guys fly is down. I should tell him without embarrassing him.

One of the things we do in our team is make sure that everyone has a 1-to-1 30-minute meeting every week with their direct manager. During this meeting, work might be a topic, but anything personal might be also. This helps make sure that our team members are living a healthy, balanced live, that work does not interfere too much, and that they are not on the road of burn out or any other unhealthy path.
