How do you connect variables in data analysis?

The approach to connect and analyze the relationship between two variables primarily hinges on the type of variables in use. The key distinction lies in whether the variables are numerical or categorical, as each type presents a distinct set of possibilities. Understanding this fundamental characteristic guides the selection of appropriate methods for establishing and assessing the relationship between the variables.

By knowing the nature of the data (ie, variables), we could have better idea on what to do with them. This is always a good place to start toying the data prior diving into analyzing them. For example, for a colour (categorical data), we could count number of records, count number of unique colours. Another example, for age (numerical data), we could calculate its total, average, highest, lowest, standard deviation and more...

Because not many would appreciate complex statistical calculation, eg, ANOVA, different coefficient methods. The primary reason is these numbers are not easy to interpret and translate the insights into action. Thus, aim for just-enough for most business scenes.

Whatever tools you are using, keep these in your mind - repeatability & scalability. Repeatability - a tool could repeat the same steps of reconnecting newer data on your next reporting cycle. For example, it can easily load newer sales data without additional works. Scalability - a tool allows you to handle expected increase of data. For instance, the data you have expand horizontally. Thus, this tool would be able recognize such addition of columns without extra intervention from you.

I think we can consider a top and overall view. We have two types og information: lingual information and other numerical or categorised information. We should have Large Data & Language Models (LDLM) to describe both information together to get better predictions. A good example is stock market prediction which needs both analysis of news and analysis of numerical change rates and other data.
