How do you confidently close coaching contracts?

In my experience, the best way to confidently close coaching clients is to ensure that I adapt and align my coaching strategy to the needs of the client. There is no one-size-fits-all in coaching. The client's needs must come first. Demonstrate that and you will close more clients.

Identifying an actual need prior to iterating will help you shape your value proposition. Them finding their pain matches your value proposition is a must in every approach at an early stage

Your personal brand is key. This encompasses your unique constellation of skills, experience and credibility. But not only that your personal brand is also about your signature coaching framework - this is your intellectual property that is not replicable elsewhere and helps to make you stand out from the crowd.

Make your value proposition easy to understand by creating a customer journey, roadmap or process that is easily understood and showcases not only how you help but what they can expect along the way. If you can link the result to each step, the customer will have more confidence in what they’ll achieve.

I begin with a freemium approach, and when clients realize they need my expertise to achieve their goals, it becomes a natural progression. This method has proven effective in attracting potential clients to my services, and I've found that a 45-minute freemium session works particularly well.

This is a common one people think is a "give and take" transactional event. Many say, "ask" as if the prospective buyer should "give." I disagree. You are the one giving. They are the one asking for help. You are the one who heard their needs, found common ground on how to solve them, presented yourself as a great solution. If you're the right solution, they as the one who "ask" and you are the one who "gives." When framed this way, sales takes on a whole different demeanor - one of empathy, one that can takes the time that the prospect needs, one that isn't afraid to "miss the sale" and thus in the ends increases revenues.

Always follow up. tThe coaching client journey matters as much in the middle as it does at both the start and end. For clients that are fading it’s also about how you deliver a great engagement experience so they feel connected with you beyond the coaching curriculum. Keeping connected beyond your coaching engagement speaks volumes about your integrity, way of working and beyond. Keep following up and checking in when it makes sense to do so. Your existing clients are your biggest advocates. It's also important to business longevity. Relationships matter before there is any deal on the table.

People appreciate an open and honest conversation so, throughout the call make it clear that coaching is a partnership. It needs to work for both so be clear on what your expectations are from the client upon starting the journey. Be transparent about your coaching, communication, accountability styles are. As a coach, be fearless about respectfully declining a coaching client if you feel it is not the right fit - your potential client will appreciate the honesty. Three things I put on the table during the call for the potential client to consider: 1) believe in yourself (for the client) 2) place your confidence in me (as your mentor/advisor) 3) trust the journey/process The conversation progresses if there is alignment on all three.
