How do you choose the right historical theories and frameworks?

The first group of disciplines is missing the vast number of practical skills that help us understand the past, such as archaeology, carpentry, smithing, farming, herding, sailing, ship-building, fighting with weapons etc, and reflects a wholly sedentary view of research! The second group of themes is more a case of 21st Century mindset and prejudices, than any real attempt at research and understanding the past!

Staying Informed: Continuous learning in the evolving landscape, influenced by Kurzweil's "The Law of Accelerating Returns" and Diamandis's insights. Promoting social reverse engineering in living labs.

In simple words, historical theories and frameworks are like tools that historians use to better understand and tell the stories of the past. They help in finding answers to questions like "why did this event occur?" or "what were the underlying factors that shaped this period in history?" and other such questions.

It's helpful to talk through your key theories/theorists & frameworks with colleagues or an advisor. It's impossible to read every paper or to have every framework in your head at the drop of a hat, and being open to critique from valued voices can have a profound impact on the outcome and success of the project.

It should however be borne in mind that most of these theories/frameworks were advanced within a certain context. Therefore, one has to be careful that the theories and frameworks chosen can be applied to the context in which one is conducting their research.
