Find out in advance the background set up and lighting for the event so that your attire can help you stand out rather than blend in. At one conference the presenting area had a very dark backdrop with dim lighting. Many presenters wore dark clothing so it appeared to the audience that there was a talking head bobbing around up front. Those that wore lighter clothing were easy to identify and notice.
