Every technician has to learn a lot to be there and understand the fine threads involving production. You can be as scientific as you want; in my case, I have been obsessed with color since my days working in printing. Color is fundamental; now, there is access to photospectrography, color meters, etc. Back then, was made with bare eye.

Grey card is amazing, however, if you can't afford an Eizo monitor or even a BenQ, at least calibrate your monitor with an X-rite solution. Color consistency is a must. Also, you should calibrate your camera with an X-rite Pro Passport.

I completely agree with that. However, is important (at least for me), to know the technical reason why a camera does that. Not working led by faith.
