How do you balance centralization and decentralization of your master data governance?
Master data governance (MDG) is the process of defining, implementing, and monitoring the policies, standards, roles, and responsibilities for managing your master data. Master data is the core information that is essential for your business operations, such as customers, products, suppliers, locations, and hierarchies. MDG aims to ensure the quality, consistency, accuracy, and availability of your master data across your organization.
However, MDG is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Depending on your business context, goals, and challenges, you may need to balance the trade-offs between centralization and decentralization of your MDG. Centralization means having a single authority or team that oversees and controls all aspects of your master data, while decentralization means allowing different business units or functions to have more autonomy and flexibility over their master data.
