Keeping the code clean, manageable and well organized is crucial in software development - because the easier it is for someone to read your code, the faster they will be able to work on it.

DRY is very simple at it's core. As the name suggests, just don't repeat yourself. If you have 4 functions that do the same thing, it's probably time to define a helper function to handle that logic. This applies not only to functions but also to constants and classes. Write code with future potential use cases in mind. Maybe generalize your function a little bit so it isn't overly specific. For example if you have: generate_april_report() That can probably be made into: generate_report(month) Notice yourself typing in months a lot? My interpretation of KISS involves keeping code short and simple. In practice, I tend to turn small sections of frequently used code into functions. For instance, if I run into an operation that frequently deals with the length of an array, and I have not found a simple way to get the length of an array, then I would create a short function that would return the length of an array. This especially comes in handy when dealing with an array of objects. Its more convenient to create code that can call the ToString method of an object and create a function that iterates through each objects ToString method.

For example you could do 3 different operations on one complex function with a single loop or you could separate it into 3 different simpler functions with 3 different loops, Unless the performance hit is noticeable consider separating the code to make it simpler instead. Then subclass those into specific vehicles or further categories for re-use. This is a great way to re-use and organize code.
