Knowing how to navigate and utilize these for creating, managing, and measuring SEM campaigns is fundamental for effective SEM practice.

Familiarize yourself with Google's very detailed Ad Rank Calculation. Understand all the factors impacting Quality Score and ads position in the auction - CTR, ad relevance, landing page experience, etc. Know how to analyze performance metrics beyond just CPC/CPA. Be able to interpret metrics like bounce rate, pages per session, % new vs returning users - and optimize towards conversions. Learn the fundamentals of attribution modeling concepts and options available in Google Analytics - especially alongside Google Ads. Know differences, strengths and when to apply. Get comfortable discussing limitations of last-click model, benefits of data-driven attribution, incrementality testing. Show deep knowledge beyond just basics.

Identify immediate optimization opportunities. Know their main competitors at top level and 2-3 they are actively trying to gain market share from. Reference how your experience can be leveraged to impact their share. Identify channels beyond SEM you foresee supporting - social ads, programmatic, multichannel attribution. Show you can connect the dots.
