I work in K-12 education, and I was saddened to see so many veteran educators leave the profession or retire early because of their severe discomfort with educational technology. COVID forced us to use technology in ways many hadn’t had to use it before, and the demand to learn it quickly was overwhelming for many. I think incorporating bite-sized technology workshops and offering digital badges as a symbol of growth and achievement will motivate our less tech-efficient educators to persevere.

As Head of ICT and Computing at Teignmouth Community College for 12 years, I found that individual feedback which compiled progress in the students' projects was a superb way of empowering students, encouraging them and helping them achieve more. We, the school and the studetns, were exceptionally successful with this approach. This sounds to me like a really interesting development of that principle and I would be very interested to see how it is being implemented.

It seems to me that the nitty-gritty of this is defining the outcomes and competances. I, personally, really liked the introduction of PLTS, partly becasue they shifted the emphasis from the level of a qualification to the actual real life skills which the students were developing and partly because they were what the employers and higher education providers really wanted in their candidates. But defining progress, quantifying progress in things like the ability to give constructive feedback requires considerable skill.
