I have come across many team projects that manage creative ways of agile like moving the sprint cycle, resource allocation etc. which helps in creating an impact rather than just the delivery. I wouldn't view security and privacy as a trend. They have been an essential part of systems development for decades. There are certainly trends associated with security and privacy (such as blockchain) that could instead be highlighted in this article.

There is a lot of standardization going on across the globe primarily focused on User-Centric Design and User-Safety. So, its key to know if anything is changing with respect to standards that apply to our designs. Not knowing the information at the right time, will result in significant losses in terms of resources/time to market/finance.

User-Centered Design (UCD) is a crucial trend that prioritizes the end users' needs, preferences, and expectations when developing software systems and applications. UCD is a comprehensive process that involves a deep understanding of users, defining the problem, crafting the solution, rigorously testing usability, and critically evaluating outcomes. The primary goal of UCD is to produce software that not only meets users' needs but is also efficient, effective, and satisfying for developers.

I think this article would benefit from further elaboration on how different trends in systems development technology and practices can relate to each other. This can provide a broad perspective that can help developers and architects understand how these innovations can (and often need to be) used together to achieve greater goals. For example, the relationship between microservices and DevOps should be explained to understand how and why they are commonly used together. The relationship between cloud and AI/ML should be highlighted to understand how cloud infrastructure can support the demanding (and often ever-growing) processing requirements of many data science systems.

System development trend has always contributed to IT spend and thus should be adopted with long term strategy. Now a days, 1. Everyone wants to go with low-code and/or no-code approach. 2. With remote work options, cloud spend can increase. 3. Ransomware incidents are increasing everyday. Our practice should keep best coding practices in mind. 4. AI is the trend for 2024.

The technology world is changing and growing rapidly which brings new technologies and concepts frequently. This is great. But the people should understand that not everything could be applied anywhere. There are specific use cases to utilise a particular technology. In order to do a better system development we should carefully investigate whether the trending technology could fit with our use case and then do it rather than just getting excited and pushing people to use it for the name sake.
