When I interact with users, I speak to communicate effectively. I learn their terms. I avoid tech lingo that I would use with a co-worker. I also write documentation. I tell people that I do not write for the expert; I write for the novice. The expert knows what to do and does not read instructions. The novice needs EVERYTHING spelled out. Know what you want to say. Phrase it in a way that is easily and clearly understood.
