Looking for mentor that will enhance your work or help us to achieved our goal its crucial for anybody that want to stay long in the game of self discovery...Mentor are people very open specially when it comes to ask for direction or advises...What is your work involved? how good and effective is the mentor you are looking for? on what specific need his expertise will be vital?these are they questions you ask yourselves and then find out if the mentor has that background or record...then you can begin to approach them and ask then in that specific department for their assistance if ever they have time and if they do, they will be happy helping you breaking that barrier!!!

I have two nuggets of advice: 1. Be willing to put in 10x as much effort as your mentor. If you approach it with that attitude, they’ll feel appreciated and likely to reciprocate. 2. Ask them how you can help THEM. You might not feel like you have much you can offer in return, but you’re wrong There is a saying that there are three resources in life: Time, Money, and Energy. Older people have time and money, but no energy Middle-aged people have, energy and money, but no time Young people have energy and time, but no money Imagine how that dynamic can work in your mentor-mentee relationship.

Mentorship comes in all different formats and sizes, I for one think individuals should harness as many as they can to fully explore their potential. Do your research when asking for time from a prospective mentor, propose a suggested format, and how you think it will benefit your development. Lay out your vision for your growth and demonstrate how you believe their contribution is going to amplify that. However, understand that it might not be the correct time for them to be a mentor, and ask to be considered at a later time. I would always layout the options, and as always with any negotiation, be ok to walk away with nothing.

Ask. Most people are very willing to help. To give their time, share their experience, and help others. I have found LinkedIn people particularly receptive to mentoring. The pitfalls of mentoring are not finding the person. The 2 pitfalls are: 1. Finding someone who says yes and is then just too busy. When you ask, make sure you are clear on what commitment you are asking for. If you'd like 1 hour per week, say so. Give them every 'out'. For example, 'I bet you are too busy to give 1 hour per week'. 2. They don't have the experience you need. Again, be clear on what experience you need. Say what you are looking for & be very specific. For example, 'A decade of SEO knowledge'. Yes, they are helping you, but it is your job to be clear.
