The most important facet is to ensure that you are doing this to genuinely listen and be open-minded to new information.

In the words of Stephen Covey, "Seek first to understand, then to be understood." The most important thing you can do is to be curious. We should not pretend that we have all the answers and know what others want. Get curious and ask people what inclusion means to them and what they would like to see happen. We must go beyond just hearing what confirms our beliefs and start listening with an open mind. Without curiosity and understanding, our well-intentioned actions will fall flat or, worse still, backfire.
