Time Series: models working on time series need to ensure order of data, validation set should never come before train set. Use time series cross validation. 3. Leave one out cross validation: for simpler models and small dataset. Can give a better estimate of the model performance but computationally very expensive.

Also, use cross validation to find the best model but don't deploy it. Take the best model choice and fit it on all available data before deploying. Model performance should increase in general. Simple thing but I once forgot to do that and lost quite a few places on leadership board in a Kagle compitition. Luckily realised the mistake before final submissions :)

When distributing minority classes from a larger dataset across train, test, and validation sets, you may not have enough instances of minority classes to equally distribute across the different datasets. Especially if you are splitting randomly, you need to ensure that each class is represented in all three datasets.

If you're splitting data into train, validation and test, do remember that test data can be only used once, for a final assessment of model performance. It is all too easy to tweak the model "just-a-little-bit", trying to get a slightly better test score, but that is a treacherous path and will result in a model that now overfits to test data, and consequently performs poorly on new unseen data.
