Using a third party cloud service to improve your security is relative and subjective to your organizational needs and type of business you operate. However, the primary rule of thumb for engaging third party cloud services cannot be overstated - Understand the provider’s Service Level Agreement (SLA), understand what level of security the CSP (Cloud Service Provider) provides, and which percentage of it falls to you and your organization. What level of risk is acceptable to the business you do and how your CSP’s availability and reliability fits into that business model without stifling productivity, accessibility, availability, and ease of doing business with your customers/client base with your acceptable level of risk and security.
