How can you use storytelling to make your writing timeless?

You can't undo the evolution. Humans have evolved to remember stories... way more effectively than straight facts. And that's the main reason why powerful writing requires a great story. If you want people to remember your posts, alway add the element of story. I remember one experience of mine... the post from a fellow LinkedIn creator Radi?a, that really stuck with me... and I often think of this Radi?a's story when his name comes up in feed. I know that Radi?a had that experience. And the more times you hear the same story... it seems more and more like you've been there physically... like you lived that storry.

To make your writing timeless you need your audience to relate to it, and one of the best ways to do that is by providing real examples in a perspective that is unique and focused on a specific 'problem', but yet connected to a more universal problem. All humans are daily trying to survive - and live a good life. This is the most natural behaviour for any living system, and a good story can be timeless if you are sharing a message that can help people reflect and have hope by seeing paths to help them change, adapt and survive... in the business perspective, the instinct of survavil is exactly the same.

Ask yourself this, what's the end result you want from your writing? If its me, I want my audience to feel the emotion in my writing and for it to have such an impact on them that they never forget it. And that's only possible with Storytelling, we are humans and humans for centuries now have been telling stories, be it in writing form or images.

Empathy is vital in business these days, and storytelling is an empathy machine. Your audience see themselves in your story. You can build on this to share experiences and ideas. You find common ground.

Crafting a story may seem like to you that it comes natural to people and yes it does but not always. Storytelling in fact can be learned, you just need to read a lot, especially fiction. I feel like people who read fiction a lot can pick on how a story is crafted and can become a natural at crafting stories even without a framework.

Stories are about what the hero wants to get and what and in their way. As the playwright David Mamet said, "unstinting application of this rule makes great stories". In business your hero is your audience. What do they want. What's getting in their way. How will you help them overcome this challenge and get what they want?

The quickest way to check your story is right is to say it out loud to someone. A trusted colleague who cab ne relied upon to tell you the truth. But you won't even need their feedback. You will know instinctively when you get to any bit that doesn't quite work.

A good storyteller is a good story analyzer. You should know what makes a good story good and what makes it the best. Learn to differentiate between the great and the mediocre. Another important thing that many people never do is to analyze bad stories and bad works. What are the mistakes and the wrong things that the person has done? How can I avoid it? If one does this two efficiently, sincerely, and dedicatedly, it would result in the stemming of a style that is unique, adaptive, and comprehensive as well. A great idea would be to maintain a document where this analysis is presented.
