For brands with memorable elements like a special song or jingle , unique old logo, or famous mascot, using these on social media is a great way to bring back good memories for people. If your brand has a catchy tune, you could make a new version of it for your social media posts. If you have a well-known mascot, you could create stories where the mascot is in today's world, connecting the past with now. Link the history and the past with the present

Nostalgia isn’t right for every business. But it’s a rich emotion for many. If it’s appropriate for you, it should be formalised somewhere. When working with the car retailer JCT600, I wrote this in their brand guidelines: In many ways, cars are memory machines. From getting dropped off at school as kids, to epic grown-up road trips, our personal stories all feature cars in some way, and every generation has its own iconic vehicles. JCT600 has a rich history to draw on. Whilst the company continues to evolve, it’s important that we don’t lose our connection with the past. We should focus on human details, tap into shared motoring memories, and show that we know there’s more to cars than the spec. (This came with some examples, obvs!)
