How can you use the Scrum framework to manage technical training projects?

In my opinion Scrum framework can be used for team members division of work to break them to produce better results within stipulated time period which is less than a month. It is used to become more organised as an individual with greater emphasis on shared goals in teams. It is indeed an agie way to manage work to produce better results through effective collaboration between teams handling complex products.

Scrum is a framework described in the Scrum Guide, designed to help teams develop solutions to complex challenges. Complex challenges mean that the way to the desired solution (the HOW) and often the desired soultion itsel (the WHAT) cannot be defined upfront, both are discovered during continuous interaction with the recipients of the solution (the buying customers or the users). Scrum ways of working therefore ensures, that we work in close collaboration with our users customers and throughout the project we both discover and deliver to their evolving needs. Scrum is one of the agile methodologies and therefore aligns to the agile manifesto principles: Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.

In Scrum, user stories represent the requirements. For your training project, these could be statements like, "As a team member, I want to learn how to use XYZ software effectively," or "As a developer, I need to understand best practices for coding in a specific language."

Scrum encourages continuous improvement. Gather feedback from trainees and stakeholders, and use it to refine and update your training materials. Plan additional sprints if necessary to address any new training need

A Scrum approach to learning allows us to set goals with the learners every learning Sprint, for example a month. We select the specific learning outcome we will work towards, and co-create a set of activities - individual or group learning - in the Sprint backlog. The essence of the Scrum ways of working is that every Sprint we have an inspect and adapt cycle - at the end of the Sprint, the learners and learning guides can gather and showcase what they have learned, how they learned it and share what was effective, what could be improved. Therefore Sprint by Sprint, the learning content and the learning approach can be adjusted and improved, leading to maximal learning retention, and competence which can be applied and tested on the job.

One challenge of running a learning project with Scrum ways of working is that it requires active involvement of the learners - the learners commit to defining and running learning experiments and allocating consistent time Sprint by Sprint for learning. Therefore, it is a good idea to set up a dedicated small team - 5-9 people - consisting of pilot learners and learning guides (trainers, content developers) who work together closely to develop and test what is the most effective way of learning towards specified learning outcomes - before scaling up the program at a larger, organisational scale.

Scrum framework itself includes the practices that can help the team using Scrum overcome such challenges. Sprint Goals enable the team designing and piloting the technical learning project, to have a focused goal every 2-4 week Sprint they agree to pursue during this time period. In the learning context, this Sprint Goal is most likely a specific learning goal, often called a learning outcome. At the end of the Sprint period, on the Sprint Review the team inspects, if the learning outcome (Sprint Goal) has been achieved, if not - why not. Sprint Retrospectives allow the team to reflect on what is working well and what is stopping them from higher performance. Challenges can are turned into concrete improvement actions on the retrospective.
