So approach it like a normal project, identify a sound business case that shows solid ROI and clear measurable outcomes.

Do not merely involve stakeholders as a formality, make them your peers. Let them review your design so that you can co-create solutions with them. Take feedback and implement wherever design changes are required. Involving stakeholders during all phases of automation implementation not only builds trust but also helps your product detect early bugs and product improvements.

ROI is one of the best (and most abused) way to promote the use of PA across organizations, or even across the different departments within an organization. When an organization manages to generate a positive ROI on their automation initiative, it becomes a great business case that can be used to persuade others to follow the same path, as well as persuade the stakeholders to agree to do more of it. As such, sharing the successes publicly or at least with the involved stakeholders, promotes the use of PA, which in general is a way to promote innovation.

Do not always believe the ROI that software vendors promise when marketing their tools. It's a marketing trick. They cherry-pick the absolutely best cases they've had and use that to sell their product to others. I have personally had cases of ROI being achieved within 1 month after implementing an RPA project. I've also had cases of 3 months. But those are rare and definitely don't happen with every client and project. While getting a positive ROI is definitely possible, if the entire implementation is done properly, and the ROI can actually be achieved quite quickly (usually within 12 months or less), any marketing around it should be taken with a grain of salt.
