The project charter is like deciding you want to bake cookies. It tells you what kind of cookies you want to make, why you're making them, and who's going to eat them. It's like choosing the recipe and making sure you have all the ingredients. If the project charter isn't documented correctly, everyone might not understand what the project is about, what needs to be done, or why it's important. It helps everyone agree on the same plan before starting, just like agreeing on what kind of cookies to bake before gathering the ingredients and following the recipe. This way, everyone knows what to expect, what to do, and why the project is important just like having a yummy batch of cookies when you follow the recipe correctly!

From my experience of delivering projects following process ensures good quality 1. Clear scope definition, objective, and timelines with key stakeholders 2. Software requirements document 3. Project plan, resource plan, quality plan, test plan, signoff milestones 4. Assumptions and up-to-date risks in a risk register 5. Non-functional requirements including performance and SLAs 6.
